When did juice fasting begin?

Juice fasting dates back more than 5500 years to an annual ritual of body detoxification and spiritual preparation known as pancha karma, which is part of the practice of Ayurvedic medicine in India. A juice fast usually lasts 1 to 10 days. There are different methods for following a juice fast. Some fasts will tell you to drink only freshly squeezed juice, while others allow you to eat more food during the fast.
